Ken Rich has tirelessly worked to compile a set of town walking tours that give any Gettysburg visitor a deeper look into the rest of the story of Gettysburg.
A Historian first and foremost; the next logical step is his wanting to bring the voices of the townspeople to the forefront of the conversation about the history of the Battle of Gettysburg. After obtaining the licenses and permits need to present guided walking tours in the town of Gettysburg. These tours are now available to you.
Ken has built a following with his Facebook groups dedicated to bringing first-hand accounts and historical documents to his pages. His map and document binders are what legends are made of.
Join Gettysburg veteran and local miller James H. Maclay (as portrayed by Jeff Greenawalt) as he comes to Gettysburg and talks about the events of 1863. Learn about what it was like for the people who lived in Gettysburg, for the volunteers who fought in the battle, and for the veterans who survived the battle and the Civil War. Not a simple regurgitation of memorized trivia, this is a compelling performance in first person that conveys the very real stories, emotions, and response of the people on Gettysburg in crisis. A leisurely walk thru town and a unique living history presentation. Nothing else in Gettysburg comes close to it.
“I am truly grateful that I have been blessed with the ability to perform because it allows me to share my love for history, music, and acting with others. The question was how to best combine these three passions of mine, but an incredibly enjoyable journey has led me to what I believe is an ideal solution.”
For small to large group tours, we can customize an itinerary to emphasize your interests. If you have a special request, send us An email , and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as we can!
